Digital Marketing is Hard to Do For Small Businesses

Digital Marketing is both a science and an art. For anybody that is running an online business you will come to realise that there is a lot to do, a lot to learn, the business landscape keeps changing and internet technology is moving fast. What is going to happen in the next 6 months, askanadviser never mind thinking and planning strategically for the next 1/2 years. In my days in the large corporate world we used to do 5 year plans! Can you believe that….? Very soon you will come to the realisation that to succeed, you need to do the most if not all of these things:


  • create a website
  • keep your website fresh and up to date
  • run and manage PPC longpropc campaigns
  • build an email list
  • network with your target market
  • create and maintain a blog
  • figure out social media, eg Twitter
  • create videos
  • optimise your web site
  • get onto Google business centre maps
  • optimise your videos
  • write white papers
  • conduct webinars
  • run podcasts
  • increase shopping cart sales
  • lower bounce rates
  • understand web site statistics
  • manage your online contacts
  • create a better backend database
  • streamline your social media activities
  • write articles
  • answer emails
  • ank higher in the search engines
  • connect with people on Facebook
  • create better autoresponders
  • etc…etc.


And if you are in business then you need to find a way to actually (shock horror) make money… In addition, there will be some offline marketing that you may need to do and blend in with your digital marketing plans. I won’t write another long list but you may go to trade shows, For more info please advertise locally etc. I’m sure you are getting the picture.
